Hancock (2008) Movie Review

Ok I'm going to come right out and say this is not the best work that Will Smith has been in. It is his kind of movie but this movie just fell short to me. It's a funny idea to have a bum be a superhero that no one likes but the movie's storyline just fell apart throughout the whole thing. I found myself wanting to get up and go to the bathroom because I was getting bored.

The only reason this movie is somewhat entertaining is because of Will Smith's dynamic character and his sense of humor. I will give the movie the credit it deserves though. It had some pretty cool special effects and some good looking action sequences but overall it wasn't enough for me to like the movie and recommend it. I wasn't sure if the actual storyline, director or acting was to blame for most of the downfalls. I thought the acting was good but something about the flow of the film didn't work.

At the climax of the movie I had to think about whether or not this was the actual climax. For serious movie goers and super hero movie fans I wouldn't recommend it. I don't like being so harsh but I really didn't get a lot from this movie and all I wanted was a decent, funny superhero movie. Some will disagree and I understand but I still hold my ground. Hancock let me down but maybe I built it up too much. If you want a good Will Smith movie, watch something else like I Am Legend.
